The Memory of Muhammad Ali

By Dwight Evans

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” – Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was The Greatest — and not just for his bouts in the ring, but also for his relentless tenacity in fighting for what he believed.

He risked his career to stand up for what he believed to be right, even when it almost sent him to jail.

Muhammad Ali didn’t just fight for himself, he fought to make the world a better place for all of us. He stood with Dr. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. He convinced an entire country to boycott the Moscow Olympics. He stood with refugees, the poor, and the oppressed. The Champ stood for justice, tolerance, and fairness around the world.

And whether you agreed with his actions or not, Muhammad Ali’s determination and openness about his beliefs always inspired respect and admiration.

That’s life’s definition of a champion.

As Muhammad Ali is laid to rest today, let us keep his fighting spirit alive by committing ourselves to serve others and earn our rent with the way The Greatest did, with tenacity.

Thank you.
