PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In the middle of the election chaos, some of the top Democratic leaders in the city and state rallied together for lunch in Northwest Philadelphia Tuesday.
Dozens of politicians lined up for lunch at Relish restaurant along Ogontz Avenue before they went off to vote in York County.
Gov. Tom Wolf also preceded his election watch party at Relish and took some selfies with voters.
“The turnout this morning really looked great,” said Wolf. “We were at some transit stops out in West Philly and there is some energy out there that I have not seen before.”
Wolf greeted Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney at the restaurant, who cast his ballot first thing Tuesday morning.
“The turnout has been fabulous,” echoed Kenney. “I voted at 9 this morning and there were already 200 people who voted ahead of me in my district in Old City.”
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro also spoke with fellow Democratic leaders about city issues.
“It’s just a great opportunity to be with the community to see old friends, to encourage people to get out and vote. I’ve been coming here the last five or six years, for as long as it’s been going on,” he said.
